DATE YOUR PIANO
Thanks to the series number of your piano you can date it to within a few months. You will often find this number on the frame somewhere near the tuning pegs, sometimes on the soundboard either on the top or the reverse (behind on upright pianos, underneath on grand pianos).
Some pianos have two numbers, one used during manufacture to keep track of the components in the factory and the series number which is all that interests us. For example, on an upright Pleyel the relevant number is on the right side of the piano. The number on the left side is the manufacturing number.
